Using Voice Edit dictation mode

Important

As of Fluency for Imaging Reporting version 4.30, Voice Edit is the only available dictation mode and this menu was removed.

Users who prefer working with structured templates containing interactive fields while dictating may prefer to use Voice Edit mode. In Voice Edit mode, the author can use the keyboard/mouse and/or microphone to interact with the editor. FFI Reporting contains a robust set of voice commands that can be used to navigate between different sections of the document and make insertions, corrections, and formatting changes. Users may prefer Voice Edit mode to support complex templates with fields or placeholders for entering specific, structure data.

FFI Reporting offers two sets of commands for dictation in Voice Edit mode:

  • Voice: These allow the dictator to use edit the report by speaking brief, instructional commands. Within the application, click the help icon to the right of the Mode indicator to get a list of voice commands. A complete list of commands can also be found in Appendix A (Help Articles > Fluency for Imaging > Appendices).

  • Keyboard/Mouse: These allow the dictator to navigate and make selections using the mouse or keyboard shortcuts, then typing corrections directly into the draft report. Within the application, click on the question mark icon to the right of the Mode indicator to get a list of keyboard shortcuts. A complete list of shortcuts can also be found in Appendix A.

To dictate in Voice Edit mode, use a combination of voice commands with dictation text. For example: "Go to end of Clinical History (pause) thirty-four year old female with history of chest pain period. (pause) Go to end of Comparison (pause) None"

Note

Users who self-correct a job dictated in Narrative mode will automatically be placed in Voice Edit mode to complete the self-correction process.
