Using Field Navigation settings

FFI Reporting includes a number of settings to make it easier to voice navigate while dictating by playing audible cues. It is important to understand these settings before using them.

Play field names when navigating to fields: Enable this if you want to hear playback of the defined voice cue for the field when you navigate. Enabling this option will display the following additional options:

Playback speed: Set the speed at which the voice cue is played. You can slow down or speed up the cue. Playback volume: How loudly the cue should be played.

Playback voice: If your computer operating system allows you to define a male or female dictation voice, FFI Reporting will detect that and default the voice cue audio to the system voice. You can change that, if desired.

Pause recording during playback: This option is designed to temporarily pause the recording during playback of the voice cue. This is to prevent the cue from being picked up as part of the dictation. However, the recommended method of use is to play the voice cue through an external speaker away from the microphone or through a headset, which would prevent the microphone from detecting the voice cue.

Beep for fields without a voice cue: If the field does not have a voice cue, FFI Reporting will play a beep when navigating to the field.
