Using Templates

A template serves as a starting point for a new document and may contain sections, subsections, fields and tokens, each of which may contain text. FFI Reporting supports both personal templates and system templates.

Available templates are displayed in the Templates section of the Dictation window once the exam is loaded. An FFI administration can set which templates get prioritized first (system or personal) by going to the FFI Administration module under Reporting > General configuration > Template Priority.

If personal templates are prioritized first, FFI uses the following logic:

  1. If there is one or more personal templates specifically associated with the procedure code for the exam, choose the highest ranking template.

  2. If there is one or more personal templates specifically associated with the modality and body part of the exam, choose the first template in alphabetical order.

  3. If there is one or more personal templates specifically associated with the body part only for the exam, choose the first template in alphabetical order.

  4. If there is one or more personal templates specifically associated with the modality only for the exam, choose the first template in alphabetical order.

  5. If no personal templates match, the same rules are applied for system-level templates.

If system templates are prioritized first, FFI uses this following logic:

  1. If there is one or more system templates specifically associated with the procedure code for the exam, choose the highest ranking template.

  2. If there is one or more system templates specifically associated with the modality and body part of the exam, choose the first template in alphabetical order.

  3. If there is one or more system templates specifically associated with the body part only for the exam, choose the first template in alphabetical order.

  4. If there is one or more system templates specifically associated with the modality only for the exam, choose the first template in alphabetical order.

  5. If no system templates match, the same rules are applied for personal-level templates.

If your site allows it, you can override the priority.

If no appropriate system or personal template can be found, the System Default template will be loaded. You cannot change the System Default template, but you can create a new template off of it.

You can also search and apply any template in the system, or create a new template from the current exam.

Note

After selecting a template, click on the Template header to minimize the section to leave more room for other content. This setting will persist between dictations.
