The Formatting option provides additional options related to the display and rendering of the dictation and draft text. More options may be added in the future.

Formatting Options - Numbers

Numbers starting a sentence

Choose numerical or spelled out.

Ordinal Format

Choose 1st, 2nd, 3rd or first, second, third. Note if used at the beginning of a sentence, it will be spelled out and capitalized.

Measurements

Select Abbreviated (cm) or Expanded (centimeters) for how measurement abbreviations should be displayed. If Expanded is selected, it will display as dictated. If Abbreviated, the dictated phrase will display as the Abbreviation. A full list of possible abbreviations associated with this formatting rule can be found below.

Three-Dimensional Measurements

When a user dictates a measurement in three dimensions, Fluency Direct will output that measurement symbolically.

Select the format that you wish to see dates appear in your dictation

Select the format that you wish to see times appear in your dictation. You can choose 12hr or 24hr format.

Formatting Options - Spacing

Paragraph Spacing

Set the number of <Return> key presses that will be inserted when you say “New paragraph.” Default value is double (2) blank lines between paragraphs). Single will insert one blank line between paragraphs.

List Items

Set the number of spaces; <space-bar> key presses, that will be inserted after each numerical or bulleted list item. Fluency Direct will support up to 10 spaces after each list item.

Note

This is not for line breaks, use Paragraph spacing for line breaks.

Advanced Formatting Options

These additional formatting options are available when you Shift+Click the Formatting menu item.

Paragraph spacing

Set the number of spaces between paragraphs; single or double.

Spaces after a sentence

Set the number of spaces to be inserted after sentence ending punctuation; one (1) or two (2).

Number of spaces after a list item

Set the number of spaces inserted after each list item from the drop down.

Period insertion

Select to Auto-Capitalize or Don't Auto-Capitalize after inserted period.

Text insertion at start of sentence

Select to Auto-lowercase or Don't Auto-lowercase after inserted text.
