Dragon Commands
When transitioning from Dragon over to Fluency Direct, it can be very valuable to export commands from Dragon and import those into Fluency Direct. This guide will assist on locating the export file and importing it into your Fluency Direct command group.
Note
The following screenshots are from Dragon Medical version 10.
Locating and Exporting Dragon Commands
Launch Dragon and choose your profile by selecting your name and clicking Open.
On the Tools menu of the DragonBar, click Command Browser.
The Command browser will display folders. Click on the folders in order to find the commands to export. The commands will display on the right panel as shown below:
To export all of the commands in a group, select the first command by left-clicking it with the mouse, then hold the Shift key and select the last command on the list (scrolling down as necessary if the list is long). After the list is selected (highlighted in blue), right click and click Export.
Type a name for the exported commands. From the Save as type: drop down, be sure to select MyCommands XML files (*.xml) as shown below:
Make note of the folder this will be saved so this file can be located later. Click Save.
Importing Dragon XML File Exports into Fluency Direct
Click on the FD Control Bar and click Commands. The Manage Commands window will appear. To import the commands into your custom commands group, right click on your name and click Import.
Note
Additional groups can be created by clicking the +Add button on the left panel.
Locate the file by using the left panel to navigate the folders on this workstation, remembering the location the file was exported following the steps above. Once the file is located, click on the file to select it and click Open.
A progress bar will appear briefly as the commands are loaded into the system. Once complete, the commands will appear in the selected group.
Note
Upon import you may see a Dragon command group called “Samples” that is being imported when providers bring in their Dragon commands. These are sample commands that providers could use to build additional commands in Dragon. One of the commands “sample script 1 to 10 sample list” has a grammar associated to it so that when a number is dictated with an animal it outputs the animal name x number of times. For example, “4 snakes” à snakes snakes snakes snakes. If you see this tied to the command group, it should be deleted.
